August is National Black Business Month in the US and August 7th is Black Pound Day in the UK, both of which have been created in order to give us an opportunity to support small black-owned businesses.  

Black Business Month:  Black business owners account for about 10 percent of U.S. businesses. The concept of Black Business Month is to shed light on, celebrate and support Black-owned organizations to promote greater economic freedom. 

Black Pound Day: Black Pound Day occurs on the first Saturday of every month, and is a campaign that encourages us as consumers to change up our spending habits and use our money more inclusively by helping to grow black-owned businesses. Every purchase can make a huge impact, and put a smile on people’s faces.

In support of both these initiatives, the BDB’s internal global committee, BAME COLLECTIVE, has curated a list of small black-owned businesses that we can all support. Check them out below.
