How to find your Instagram Ads Interests (and some of our favourite funny combinations):

If you've been keeping up with the news, then you’ll know that the paid advertising on the platform is getting smarter. In the past year, Instagram’s paid advertising has got more targeted, more tailored and slightly more terrifying when it comes to understanding our exact interests and desires. This is all great news if you’re a brand, but as a humble Instagram user you might be interested to find out what the social-media giant knows about you.

And if you are, then you’re not alone…This week

Here’s a step by step guide:

  1. Go to your account page and click on the three lines icon in the top right corner
  2. Choose Settings at the bottom of the sidebar
  3. Then select Security

4. And then choose Access Data
5. You’ll then be taken to a large list of data related options. Scroll to the very bottom of this page and then under Ads select Ads Interests
6. Instagram will then take you to a page with a variety of keywords associated with your account, you can View More to further find more associated keywords

Easy, right?

Now you know how to do it, you’re likely to find some funny combinations. We had a dig around on Twitter and wanted to share some of our favourites:

So uhhh...On Instagram if you go to Settings > Security > Access Data > Ads, you can see what kind of ads Instagram thinks you want.
Mine are...an Israeli DJ I’ve never heard of, parts of the US Government, video games, the movie “Rocky”, and the Republican party. Hahaha what?!

On Instagram if you go to Settings > Security > Access Data > Ads, you can see what kind of ads Instagram thinks you want.
Most of these I never searched about before I saw them on the ad. So I definitely think Instagram is listening to my conversations.

So what's yours guys?
