Job Overview

We are looking for a Group Account Director to help grow the London account management team.

They will oversee and provide stewardship for the team alongside the Head of Client Services and senior management.

The Group Account Director will be responsible for developing client relationships and initiating progressive solutions to their brand challenges and ambitions; including cross selling and up-selling where relevant.

Deep knowledge of digital marketing and its role in the wider marketing mix, strong client management skills, strategy and planning and the ability to mentor a team is crucial in this role as is the ability to proactively build strong working relationships with internal and external contacts to deliver exemplary service at all times.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Typical activities

  • Clients Partnerships: Rapport, Client brand’s strategic development and Industry Impact
    • Demonstrate an outstanding understanding of each client’s business and sector – market share, competitor activity, stakeholders, success KPIs, financial targets, product evolution, brand ambitions and challenges.
    • Partner with clients in a trusted advisor capacity, delivering continuous thought leadership around Billion Dollar Boy strategies and services proactively seeking new ways to accelerate progress towards client goals.
    • Mindfully consider holistic agency solutions true to Billion Dollar Boy’s core data driven creative proposition, proactively innovating solutions to deliver client ambitions (Brand, industry and personal where relevant).
    • Enable full agency team immersion into client brand,, adapt ways of working, language, behaviours, reporting, meeting cadence and format to directly emulate client.
    • Be a true extension of their marketing team.
    • Own the Client Development Plan inviting all agency services to input progressive, cross-discipline solutions.
    • Develop and manage deep, valuable relationships with key senior client personnel.
    • Maintain intimate knowledge of the agency’s credentials, service lines and top case studies, sharing updates with clients and teams as the agency evolves.
  • Commercial Skills and Business Development
    • Ensure 100% financial accuracy in budgets, forecasts and reports.
    • Know your portfolio targets and ways to meet and/or exceed them, ensuring you update the business regularly on progress and additional support required
    • Maximise commercial opportunities across your portfolio with monthly cross-sell and up-sell plans
    • Manage your client teams to ensure all financial data and processes are correct and followed
    • Never allow scope creep, work output or time, without consciously authorising
    • Maintain timesheet scrutiny to ensure correct utilisation as scoped. Flag immediately with proposed solution where discrepancy occurs.
    • Work with the Sales Team to maximise qualified opportunities and where invited seize the opportunity to play an integral role in new business pitches.
    • Proactively suggest new case studies for the agency to spotlight.
  • Team Leadership
    • Behave as an exemplary client services lead, inspiring and motivating your team to deliver high performance against their objectives.
    • Provide effective counsel to the team at all times.
    • Build collaborative and productive relationships across the agency ensuring client information is shared quickly and always (information is empowering and must not be held back).
    • Respect Client Leadership’s function within the agency to enable brilliant and top calibre work and ensure you epitomise the value of leadership in your internal management motivating and integrating teams in the right way at the right time.
    • Understand your respective team members strengths and weaknesses, and provide the necessary support structure to help nurture personal development and career progression
    • Conduct performance reviews with your direct report/s. Establish clear short and long term objectives; identify and monitor areas for improvement and establish a clear set of development actions designed to build on their strengths to help them achieve their potential.
    • Provide flags to Management should there be problems on an account and seek counsel from seniors as appropriate.
    • Actively seek opportunities to attend industry events, volunteering to speak at as many relevant events as possible with the ambassadorship objective of raising Billion Dollar Boy’s profile

Required Skill Set:

  • A passion for digital and desire to constantly innovate and try new things
  • Expert knowledge in you field with the ability to inform clients on topics that they don’t know – either about their industry or digital trends, techniques or technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of performance marketing and the tools and be up to date with the latest tools and technology in the industry
  • Experience managing pitches from start to finish for market leading clients
  • Excellent client leadership skills and account management
  • Natural disposition to viewing challenges as opportunities
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams at different levels
  • Experience managing budgets
